ATHENA CHHATTISGARH POWER LIMITED

Athena Chhattisgarh Power Limited (ACPL) is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for developing and implementing a domestic coal based Thermal power projects near Singhitarai village in Janjgir-Champa District in the State of Chhattisgarh.

The plant is planned to be developed in one stage with a total generation capacity of near Sunghitarai Village 1,200 MW. The project configuration will be two units of 600 MW each. The plant is expected to be commissioned in a period of 39 months from financial closure. Financial closure of the project was achieved in March 2011.

ACPL had earlier signed an MoU with Government of Chhattisgarh (GoC) for the development of the project.

Status as on jan 31, 2012

  • All statutory clearance have been received.
  • Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA): LoA of the coal linkage for first unit of project has been received from SECL and FSA is respected to be signed shortly.
  • Coal Block (Fatehpur East Coal Pvt Ltd):Mining plan submitted after completion of studies TOR for EIA studies for Coal Block issued by MOEF.
  • Long Term Open Access (LTOA) for transmission facilities grant for 755 MW has been received from PGCIL. Govt of Chhattisgarh is in the process to apply for LTOA for transmission facilities for balance 445 MW. BPTA has been signed.
  • Power Sale: PPA for 37.5% of power from STPP has been signed Chhattisgarh Power Trading Company . PPA for balance of power sale has been tied up with PTC in May, 2009 for long term & short term basis.300 MW tied up with UPPCL . Additionally 250 MW or more will be sold to Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA).
  • BTG Contract signed with DEC. BoP contract awarded to Abir, SEW,Toshiba Consortium
  • Financial Closure achieved in March 2011.
  • Construction works in progress at site.
