Athena Projects Private Limited (APPL) and PTC India Limited (PTC) created a joint venture to form Athena Energy Ventures Private Limited (AEVPL) which later strengthened through a pioneer financial institution of India, Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC) joined the venture. AEVPL aspires and aims at a diversified portfolio in power sector with major objective of engaging in generation, distribution and transmission of electricity through special purpose companies or joint ventures.

The objective of the joint venture is to identify opportunities for developing and acquiring Hydro & Thermal generation projects and associated infrastructure activities like fuel storage, pipelines, tankages, ports including coal berths, railheads, and road transport in South Asian region. The company strives to be world class energy major by getting involved in all aspects of the energy cycle and achieve a project portfolio of at least 10,000 MWs by 2015.

CURRENT SHARECAPITAL
As of 31 March 2010, AEVPL has an authorised capital of Rs. 750 Crores, and a paid-up and subscribed capital base of Rs. 240 Crores.
