Over 25 years of experience in building start-ups in petrochemical, chemical and fertilizer projects, including power and utility project execution. The experience base is over diverse functions like operations & quality control and general management, both in Indian and foreign countries. Mr Rao has implemented a large-scale petrochemical (350,000 TPA of PTA - Purified Terephthalic Acid) plant based on technology from Eastman, Carolina, USA, on schedule and within budget, the execution included a 70 MW power plant. Responsibilities included transfer of technology, construction, commissioning and stabilization. He has also developed and implemented several techno-economic schemes, resulting in savings of several million USD. Successfully commissioned plants like - PTA, Ammonia, Nitrophosphate and Ammonium Nitrate based on technology from ICI, UK; Haldor Topseo, Italy; Stamicarbon, Netherlands respectively.

He was Managing Director of Srivathsa Power Projects Ltd a Natural gas based power plant in Andhra Pradesh, which he implemented from concept to commissioning from Nov 1999.

In an earlier assignment with Reliance Group he was Project General Manager, PTA Project, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), responsible for detailed engineering, commissioning and operations, 1990-1994.Technical Manager, RIL, Patalganga Petrochem Complex; Responsibilities included improving the productivity, efficiency, trouble-shooting and de-bottlenecking of PTA for achieving 20% higher capacity, Paraxylene, Linear Alkyl Benzene, Polyester, Power and Utility plants, 1986-1990. Production Manager, RIL, Facilitated taking over of PTA plant of 200,000 TPY capacity from construction group.

Mr MSP Rao's is an engineer graduate from Andhra University, Vishakapatanam Bachelor in Technology Chemical Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai Master in Technology Chemical Engineering.
