Bhavanapadu Coal Based Thermal Power Plant (BTPP) is being developed by East Coast Energy Private Limited (ECEPL), near Kakarapalli village in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh.

The plant is envisaged to be developed in two stages with an ultimate generation capacity of 2640 MW. Each stage is planned with a capacity of 1320 MW having two units of 660 MW. Site location and planning and all statutory approvals have been obtained for these two stages.

The stage-I of the plant is expected to be commissioned in December 2015 and stage-II is expected to be commissioned in 12 months thereafter.

  • Financial closure of Phase-I of the Project has been achieved and financial closure of Phase II is in progress.
  • Fuel Supply:
  • -- Imported Coal:Imported Coal: Signed Coal Supply Agreement (CSA) with M/s. Global Fuels Pvt Ltd. for supply of imported coal. Further, MoU has been entered with PTC Energy to supply imported coal as per the required parameters.

    -- Domestic Coal:Signing of FSA with Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is in process.

    -- For Phase - II, application for Coal Linkages have been submitted to Ministry of Coal (MoC).

  • EPC Contracts:
  • -- BTG Contract:For Phase I, contract signed with M/s. Dongfang Electric Company (DEC), China.

    --For Phase II, LoA has been placed on Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC).

    --BOP Contract:BoP contract for Phase I signed with M/s Navayuga Engineering Company Limited and Abir Infrastructure Private Limited.

    --For Phase II, the Bid Evaluation report completed and is being finalized. Draft of BoP contract document is being finalized.

    Power Sale:LoI for the procurement of 300 MW of power from project has been received from Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APCPDCL) and PPA signing is in process.

    CSR Initiative:CSR initiatives of the company in the fields of Public Health, Education and Social Welfare are continuing in nearby villages.
